About Us

Latvia's Ludwig von Mises Institute

Welcome to Latvia’s Ludwig von Mises Institute.

Our mission is to increase general understanding of economic processes and the principles of free market economics  according to the Austrian school of economics.

We promote classical liberalism, Austrian economics, which is well known due to three economists, Carl Menger (1840-1921), Friedrich von Wieser (1851-1926) and Eugens von Bohm-Bawerk (1851-1914). Ludwig von Mises was an outstanding 20. century Austrian economist, as well as a distinguished author and philosopher who wrote 29 books and well over 250 papers.

Just as the original Mises Institute, we here at Latvia promote freedom, money backed by gold and silver reserves with a fixed value, free market and its security, private property, as well as peace and tranquility.

Freedom of choice is the root of all actions including economic actions. Free market economics requires contract enforcement, freedom of choice and is the prerequisite for social well-being. By providing free and accessible economic education Mises Institute in Latvia is working towards a more free and rich future for the Latvian nation.

Latvian Ludwig von Mises Institute is working on providing accessible educational materials in latvian language. Our current works can be accessed at our library.
